The news conference will be held at Winfield II, 10110 Forum West Dr. Houston, TX 77036
The demolition will occur across the street at Winfield I Condominiums, 10403 Forum Park. Media is invited to accompany Mayor Parker and CM Laster for a photo opportunity at the demolition site across the street after the news conference.

The City of Houston has successfully negotiated an agreement that will lead to the demolition of the run down Winfield I Condominiums at 10403 Forum Park. Demolition is scheduled to begin Monday, October 22, 2012.

The agreement, which will save the city from having to cover any of the demolition and asbestos removal costs, is the result of a cooperative enforcement approach by the Houston Department of Neighborhoods, the Houston Police Department and the City Legal Department.

Proposition E of the city bond referendums voters will consider in November includes $15 million for the removal of blighted properties like the Winfield Condos when owners do not step up and take responsibility. The proposition is listed on the ballot as housing bonds but the money will all go toward demolishing dangerous and abandoned buildings to make way for future affordable housing.
