Greater Southeast Management District Positioned For Growth 2012 Annual Summit & Luncheon Scheduled to Share Opportunities

Houston, TX – Local business and community leaders will convene to discuss the growth opportunities in the greater southeast region of Houston on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm at the Czech Center Museum located at 4920 San Jacinto during the annual one-day event.

“This is an opportunity for the Greater Southeast Management District to share with residents, businesses and developers the tremendous growth and upcoming opportunities throughout the community,” stated Jason McLemore, Executive Director of the Greater Southeast Management District. “There has been lots of interest in the event and we expect a full house.”

The event will kick-off with the “State of the District” breakfast featuring Harris County Commissioner El Franco Lee, Precinct One sharing upcoming projects, community development and economic growth strategies. The Together Achieving More “TAM” educational summit, slated from 9:00 am – 11:30 am will consist of four seminars that include:

“The Business of Affordable Healthcare” seminar presented by Dr. Leonard Zwelling (MD Anderson) and Manny Chana (Jones School of Management) will discuss the specifics of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the economics of this healthcare legislation, focusing on the effects within the district.
“Tune Up Your Marketing Engine” seminar presented by Shawna Gant of Comcast who will share strategies and tactics to increase business through the use of traditional and new media marketing.
“Tapping Into the Growth” seminar presented by Jason McLemore (Greater Southeast Management District), Gerald Womack (Womack Development & Investment Realtors, Inc.) and Sherif Ali (Ali Properties) is a developer led session focusing on strategies for land development, community capacity building and opportunities for service and products needed within the district.
“Houston By The Numbers” seminar presented by Dr. Richard Murray and Keir Murray will explore the economic and ethnic growth patterns that may affect local business and community development.

The annual TAM luncheon will begin at 11:30 am featuring Jenny Philip of the Greater Houston Partnership who will provide a 5-10 year outlook on the growth patterns of the community. The event will conclude with a Cupcake & Cocktail Reception sponsored by Senator Rodney Ellis. Complimentary tours of the Czech Museum will be available during the reception. Complimentary valet parking will be provided for all attendees.
