The August 5 massacre at the Sikh Temple in Wisconsin has jolted the consciousness of Americans and people all over the world. In the aftermath of this act of domestic terrorism, in which six innocent people lost their lives, now is the time for citizens of good will to come together in solemn testimony to the common values that we share. Houston Mayor Annise Parker invites the Houston community to take part in a candlelight vigil to honor the memory of the victims of this violent act, express condolences to their survivors and families and affirm our community’s solidarity against hate crime, terrorism and religious intolerance.
