The Houston Public Library Hillendahl Neighborhood Library will reopen its doors on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 10AM. This library was closed on June 2, 2012 for minor renovations. Hillendahl Neighborhood Library is located at 2436 Gessner Road, 77080, 832-393-1940. Library hours are: Tue 10-6, Wed 10-6, Thu 12-8, Fri 1-5, Sat 10-5.
The minor renovations at the library included:
All existing furniture was refinished.
All existing furniture was reupholstered with high quality, stain resistant fabric.
All existing tackable panels used for display were replaced.
One computer desk was modified to provide easier access to computers.
Circulation desk counter top was removed and re-laminated.
Reference desk Counter was removed and re-laminated.
The Arnold L. Hillendahl Neighborhood Library in the Spring Branch community opened November 17, 1971. The Hillendahl family was an integral part of that area from its beginning as a farming community in the 1830s. The architectural firm of Pitts, Phelps and White designed the contemporary facility with a Spanish influence.
