Organizations Announce Extension of Long-Standing Partnership

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Astros have reached a three-year agreement with CITGO, renewing the longstanding partnership between the two companies through the year 2015.

As a part of the agreement, the Astros and CITGO will continue to work together on various community outreach programs and initiatives in the Houston area. The agreement also includes the relocation of the CITGO sign at Minute Maid Park, previously positioned above the train in left field. The newer, larger sign will be moved closer to center field.

“We’re very pleased that we are extending our partnership with our friends at CITGO,” said Astros Owner and Chairman Jim Crane. “The Astros have had a solid, productive relationship with CITGO for several years, and we look forward to continuing it for several more.”

“CITGO has been a partner of the Houston Astros since 2004, when we moved our corporate headquarters to the Bayou City,” said CITGO President and CEO Alejandro Granado. “Since then, the CITGO trimark has been present at Minute Maid Park, reminding baseball fans that we are proud to call Houston home and to root for our home team.

Our partnership with the Houston Astros, which involves various community outreach initiatives, is one more example of our commitment to doing good in the communities where we have a presence,” CITGO, a Houston-based company, has been a partner of the Houston Astros since 2004.
