HCDE Head Start Recruits Children for 2012/2013

Houston, TX. – Harris County Department of Education is recruiting 1,250 children ages 3-5 for the school year 2012-2013 for 16 centers located throughout northeast Harris County. Children of income-eligible families and children with special needs are served. The program delivers services to ensure future success both academically and socially.

Community centers include Barrett Station, Baytown, Channelview, Compton, Coolwood, Fifth Ward, Humble, J.D. Walker, and East Crosstimbers (KIPP Dream Prep). Other neighborhoods served are La Porte, Pugh, R.P. Harris, San Jacinto, Scott, Sheffield and Tidwell.

Head Start develops partnerships with social service agencies, local businesses, universities and other community entities to offer combined services. Head Start is federally funded with the commitment that Harris County Department of Education will leverage community resources to provide services.
