Fourth Graders to Donate Proceeds from Lemonade Day Event on Sunday, May 6 to Benefit BARC

Who: Annunciation Orthodox School (AOS) fourth grade class, University of St. Thomas School of Education and School of Business, BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions

What: AOS fourth graders are participating in Lemonade Day, a community-wide educational initiative, and 100 percent of the proceeds from their lemonade sales will go to BARC. Lemonade Day marks the 15th and final lesson in a two-month series on entrepreneurship taught by University of St. Thomas faculty.

When: Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Where: Academic Mall at the University of St. Thomas Campus

Lemonade Day is meant not only to teach students about entrepreneurship, but also about the importance of giving back to the community. With this in mind, the fourth graders chose BARC as the organization to whom they want to donate their lemonade sales proceeds. The class chose BARC from a list of more than 20 possible nonprofits because they love their pets and want to help animals in need.

The proceeds from Lemonade Day will help BARC continue working to save and find a home for every animal in the City of Houston. With increasing community support from Houstonians like AOS fourth graders, BARC is on the fast track to reaching its goal of becoming the best municipal animal shelter in the U.S.

The simplest, but most powerful thing you can do to help the BARC Houston shelter, and pets throughout our community, is to talk to your friends, neighbors, and family about caring for pets responsibly, and spaying and neutering all animals.
