Beginning Monday, February 6, Current and Former Players to Make Numerous Visits Throughout Houston Including Sugar Land, Spring, Cypress and Katy

WHEN: Monday, February 6 – Friday, February 10
WHAT: The Houston Astros 2012 CAREavan starts Monday, February 6, with stops around Greater Houston. The tour’s first stop will be to Chick-fil-A where players will serve fans lunch. Additional visits are planned to Clemente Martinez Elementary School, Carver High School for an Urban Youth Academy Careers in Baseball session and to Academy Sports + Outdoors for free autographs.
On Tuesday, February 7, the Astros will head to Sugar Land. The players will conduct a Fielder’s Choice assembly at Colony Meadows Elementary School followed by a visit to The Methodist Hospital. CAREavan will also stop at the Fort Bend Family YMCA after school program at Stafford Elementary School and finish with a free autograph session at Academy Sports + Outdoors.
The CAREavan will travel north to Spring on the third day, Wednesday, February 8. The first visit will be to AVANCE/Southwest School for a Fielder’s Choice assembly. The players will then conduct a baseball and softball clinic for ORWALL and South Montgomery youth baseball and softball players. The final stop will be a free autograph session at Academy Sports + Outdoors.
On Thursday, February 9, the winter trek will head to Cypress stopping first at the CyFair College Branch Library for a bilingual story time. The next visits include a Fielder’s Choice assembly at Spillane Middle School followed by a youth baseball and softball clinic with the CyFair Sports Association. The day will again culminate with a free autograph signing at Academy Sports + Outdoors.
On Friday, February 10, the team will wrap up CAREavan by heading west, spending the day in Katy. The first stop will be a special visit to Brookwood Community Center. Brookwood Community Center is an educational, residential, and entrepreneurial community for adults with functional disabilities. In the afternoon, the Astros will visit Methodist Hospital West and will complete the day at Academy Sports + Outdoors for a free autograph session.
