The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (HHCC) announces the success of a recently launched radio talk show with President and CEO Dr. Laura Murillo as host and producer of the show, airing on KLAT 1010 AM, La Tremenda at 9 a.m. every Monday, featuring guests who offer invaluable information to the community.

“The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with Ford, Univision and La Tremenda, 1010 AM in providing critical information to the Hispanic community,” said the Chamber’s President and CEO Dr. Laura Murillo.

Through the radio show, the Hispanic Chamber, in partnership with Ford Motor Company, promotes business, education, leadership and community involvement among other topics of interest in the Hispanic community. The most impactful response HHCC received just after the radio show launched was that of a 61-year-old woman who took several buses downtown to thank Dr. Murillo for her words of inspiration to never stop learning. The 61-year-old woman, a victim of domestic violence, sought assistance to learn English to improve her quality of life. HHCC enrolled her in English classes to support her efforts.

“We support organizations that are a positive community force like the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,” said Alvaro Cabal, Ford’s Multicultural Communications Director, who will be present at the press conference.

Ford Motor Company in 2010 contributed $18.6 million in grants to U.S.-based organizations in three strategic areas: education, safety, and community. The company’s values and mission statement are centered on having a strong viable business with great products and always building better local communities.

Previously featured guests include community leaders such as Ripley House Community Developer Bolivar Fraga Jr., Texas Director of Civic Engagement Claudia Ortega-Hogue, Immigration Lawyer Silvia Graves, University of Houston-Center for Mexican American Studies Program Manager Rebeca Treviño, President of Nation Waste and Board member of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Maria Rios.
