Super Heroes and Pink Dragons in the Waters of Sugar Land

Sugar Land, TX. – Come meet the MD Anderson Super Heroes Youth team, a mix of leukemia and cancer teenagers with the parents, doctors, nurses and other “sidekicks” during the 8th Annual Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta which is held October 22 & 23, 2011 at Brooks Lake at Fluor’s corporate campus in Sugar Land, Fort Bend County.

This brand new survivor team will be competing for the first time and see what it takes to drive a dragon. In addition, three Breast Cancer Survivor teams will paddle the waters in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The original Houston-based Pink Phurree team, our newest Breast Cancer Survivor team, All Hands Abreast, as well as our visiting Louisiana pink team, Cajun Invasion, will demonstrate their skill and that there is life after breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Dragon boat racing is the ultimate team-building activity for 25 team members. Our event has come to be known as one of the largest multicultural and team-building activities in Fort Bend bringing over 5,000 visitors. In addition to exciting dragon boat races, we will have diverse arts-and-crafts, kid zone, Asian cuisine and cultural performances.

Admission and parking are free.

Please come out and cheer on the Super Heroes, BCS teams and the corporate and community teams. BP, ExMar Offshore, BG, CGG Veritas, EagleBurgmann, Fluor Corporation, JP Morgan, MD Anderson Regional Core Center, Minute Maid, Schlumberger, Southern Union, United Airlines and so many more of the 45 teams will paddle to the finish line.
