CCM Foundation Receives $1,000 CVS Caremark Community Grant

Donation to CCM Foundation is part of CVS Caremark Community Grants Commitment to supporting those who are uninsured and underinsured

Houston, Texas – October 3rd, 2011 – CCM Foundation announced today that it has received a $1,000 CVS Caremark Community Grant. The Community Grants Program was created by CVS Caremark to create greater access to health care services and provide support for the uninsured and underinsured. The support from CVS Caremark will help CCM Foundation continue to raise awareness on health issues that affect women and to provide accessibility to vaccines to those who cannot afford them.

The CCM Foundation, an organization founded to help raise awareness and promote HIV/STD prevention to African American and Latino youth & young adults, has partnered with the Collegiate Cancer Council at the University of Houston since 2009 to host the Well Woman Extravaganza. This free, annual event offers HIV/STD testing, HPV and flu vaccinations, glucose and vision screening, and breast and cervical cancer education to those in attendance.

“With breast cancer being the most diagnosed and cervical cancer being the seventh most diagnosed cancers in Texas, this event has been instrumental in providing awareness and prevention services to women about these diseases,” said Corey Garrett, Vice President of CCM Foundation.

“We are committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work and the CVS Caremark Community grants program does just that by supporting organizations that provide access to health care to those who otherwise could not obtain it,” said Karen Ramos, Senior Manager, Community Relations, CVS Caremark Corporation. “We are proud to support the work that CCM Foundation does in the community and we look forward to working with them in the year ahead.”

CCM Foundation was selected to receive a grant through the CVS Caremark Community Grants 2011 application process. Grants were awarded to organizations that support CVS Caremark’s goal of making health services affordable and easy to access for all by providing programs for the uninsured. The goal of the CVS Caremark Community Grants program is to provide relief for both adults and children who lack medical insurance to get the proper medical attention needed.
