HOUSTON, TX (May 16, 2011) – District A Council Member Brenda Stardig is partnering with the Mayor’s Office of Special Events and the Houston Parks Department in presenting a series of movie nights every Friday in June at Agnes Moffitt Park located at 10645 Hammerly Houston, TX 77043 near Beltway 8. Each week, a different movie will be presented along with a farmers market and various activities throughout the park.The Farmers Market and Movie Night Series will begin with the Farmers Market at 5pm and the movie to start at 8pm.
Every Friday, various organizations will hold activities that correspond with the theme of that night. The City of Houston’s Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility, BARC, and the Houston Zoo will be two of the organizations in attendance with animals prior to their respective movies. An inflatable water slide will entertain the children, while the farmers market will showcase a variety of vendors with gourmet prepared food and locally grown produce.
“I am very excited to have events like this in District A that help build a stronger sense of community,” said Council Member Stardig. “This community event will showcase the beautiful green space and new schools we have within the area. I encourage all our good neighbors to come out and enjoy fun-filled nights with great food and entertainment.”

Comcast, Goya Foods, Greenstar Recycling, Houston Community College, and Republic Services are sponsoring the event.
