This year’s awardees have broken barriers in their respective fields and left an indelible mark on the face of Houston .
This impressive group of honorees consists of civic and cultural icons, entrepreneurs and corporate executives. Friends, family and colleagues will laud the accomplishments of these outstanding leaders during an awards dinner at The Houstonian, located at 111 North Post Oak Lane, on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Fans of Sheryl Lee Ralph are in for a treat. The Connecticut native began her career in Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby’s feature film, A Piece of the Action (1977). She is most famous for her Tony-nominated portrayal of Deena Jones in the popular show Dreamgirls (1981). On television, Sheryl Lee has starred in It’s a Living, her own series New Attitude, the George Foreman series George and in the hit comedy Designing Women. She was also voted one of TV’s Favorite Moms for her portrayal of step mom Dee on the number-one rated television series Moesha. Ralph is also the founding creator of The Jamerican Film & Music Festival which in five years has given birth to five SHOWTIME Filmmaker Finalists.
