The Houston Area Urban League Guild is excited to host our Twelfth (12th)) Annual Mask Ball on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the famous Brady’s Landing Restaurant. This fun and festive evening emulates Mardi Gras, including fine buffet style southern cuisine, carnival style music, and entertainment. The event is well attended by over 300 guests.
The theme of the 2010 event is Bacque to Basics…Don’t Be Tardy to the Party
The Mardi Gras Masked Ball is the primary fundraiser for the Guild. It is an evening of dinner and dancing with musical entertainment typical of a Mardi Gras Ball. Dinner is a Cajun style buffet meal with cash bar service available throughout the evening.. The Masked Ball will take place on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the famous Brady’s Landing Restaurant. The event will include a crowning of the best-dressed costume of the male and female in attendance as King and Queen of the evening for 2010. Being mindful of the economy, we have reduced the price of the ticket to $50.00 per person and $500.00 for a table of ten. We also offer very generous sponsorships packet for groups, small business and corporations.

The Houston Area Urban League Guild is a volunteer auxiliary of the Houston Area Urban League whose mission includes promoting volunteer participation, raising funds to support the Leagues’ programs, and activities and communicating the Leagues’ programs policies and concerns to the community at large. The Guild members’ work and dedication has earned them first-place recognition in the Southern Region of the National Urban League for donating more than $100,000.00 to the Houston Area Urban League over the last six years. In addition, the Guild received the 2006 National Council of Urban League Guilds Southern Region Community Service Award for its commitment to service and fundraising, a prestigious honor sponsored by the National Council of Urban League Guilds.

About The Houston Area Urban League
The Houston Area Urban League (The League) was founded in 1968 by a group of business professionals. Its leaders have included: Quentin Mease, Leo Linbeck, Judson Robinson, Sr., Gerald Hines, C. G. Hardy, J. J. Susberry, Mrs. Clarence Higgins, Carl Walker, James Middleton and Attorney Aloysius M. Wickliff. Since then the Houston Area Urban League has been a voice for disadvantaged people of all races and has a long and distinguished record as an agency that offers tangible, lasting benefits to all members of the community without regard to age, sex, race, physical limitations or ethnic background. Local agency directions and policy are set by a 40-member Board of Directors chaired by Ms. Barbara L. Seymour.
