Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Preacher, Pastor, Husband, Civil Rights leader, Non-Violent Crusader, and Nobel Peace Prize winner was murdered standing up for the rights of garbage workers to earn better wages and treatment as civil servants. In 1967, he. wrote a book entitled:“Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?

This is a formal invitation for you and your selected guest to attend a special forum on January 15th, starting at 9:00am called by Real Urban Ministry, Inc. and hosted by The Council on Alcohol and Drugs-Houston, located at 303 Jackson Hill St. , Houston, Texas 77007. The State of Texas 81st legislative session passed a landmark document, HB 492 (see attachment) which provides a new means for potential Community and Faith- Based Initiatives and Partnerships, with local, state and federal agencies. Every major Texas agency is identified and indeed represents a new paradigm for academic, community, faith and government leadership.

You have been given this special invitation, because of the Academic, Community, Faith, City, County, State or Federal leadership that you represent and is needed in order to make HB 492 beneficial to individuals and communities in Houston, the State of Texas and these United States of America. Thank you in advance for the service that your organization renders to the community. You are already “helping to build a better community”.

Dr. King wrote, “Power, properly understood, is the ability to achieve purpose…It is the strength required to bring about social, political or economic changes. In this sense power is not only desirable but necessary in order to implement the demands of love and justice”.

• To increase awareness of HB 492, Implications, Access & Implementation;
• To produce a Forum document that captures questions, responses and recommendations;
• Community and Faith-Based Initiative Interest and Organization Capacity;
• Access Agency partnerships for cooperative and foundation support with grant funding,
• Enable Community, Faith and Government Commitments for actualization.

Thank you in advance for being a leader, we look forward to seeing you and your guest, representing your Academic, Community, Faith or Government organization on January 15th, at The Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse-Houston, for the MLK Weekend Discussion:
