Roland Garcia Endorses Annise Parker for Mayor

Attorney Roland Garcia today announced his endorsement of Annise Parker in her run-off election for Houston Mayor.

Garcia will join the campaign as a senior member of the campaign team.

“I am excited to be a part of Annise Parker’s team,” said Garcia. “Annise Parker is the most qualified candidate to be Mayor, and has more experience in city government than all of her opponents combined. I am committed to raising the funds necessary for a successful run-off election.”

“Roland is a wonderful asset to our team,” declared Parker. “He will be invaluable as we continue our campaign for safer neighborhoods, more jobs, improved drainage and a better quality of life.”

In order to endorse and raise funds for Parker, Garcia today resigned his position as a member of the Board of Directors of the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority. City ordinance prohibits a member of the Sports Authority Board raising funds for a candidate.

“I have enjoyed my service on the Sports Authority Board,” said Garcia. “However, electing Annise Mayor is so important, I felt I had to do this.”

Roland Garcia is an attorney with Greenberg Traurig. He has handled many high profile cases, tried lawsuits in state and federal trial courts and argued appeals in state and federal appellate courts. Garcia is past president of the Houston Bar Association, the first minority elected to that position, the Hispanic Bar Association and the Texas Young Lawyers Association. He serves on the Boards of the Greater Houston Partnership, Memorial Hermann Continuing Care Corp. and the Harris County Hospital District Foundation. Garcia was named a Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly Magazine, and has served on the finance committees of local, state and national candidates and officeholders.
