National Urban League President to Deliver Keynote Address
The Houston Citizen’s Chamber of Commerce (HCCC) will celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of its prestigious Pinnacle Awards on Friday, October 16, 2009, at Houston’s InterContinental Hotel at 7:00 p.m. The Pinnacle Awards honor excellence, tenacity and dedication of entrepreneurialism.
“Now more than at any time in the history of our country are these businesses to be celebrated and supported. Trying economic times place pressure on businesses and consumers at all levels, but the staying power of African American businesses, such as those we have honored throughout the Chamber’s past and those we will honor next month, are clear indicators of the innovation and savvy of these entrepreneurs,” Eric Lyons, HCCC president said.
Nominations for the three categories that will be awarded this year are available at www.hcccpinnacleawards.org and will be accepted until September 25, 2009. Winners will be announced for The Pinnacle Award, Advocate Award and the Mack Hannah, Jr Upstart Award. Criteria and nomination requirements can be reviewed on the website.
The October 17 black-tie gala is themed, “A Legacy of Impact: Back in the Black” and will feature a silent auction and keynote address from National Urban League President and CEO, Marc Morial. As the Urban League prepares for its 100th year of promoting equality through workforce and economic development, Morial’s “Empowerment Agenda” is fitting to commemorate and encourage the continued success of African American businesses.
Tickets and Tables for the event are still available for purchase, and can be obtained by visiting www.hcccpinnacleawards.org.
