Houston, Texas – October 4, 2007 – Laureen Wishom, Ph.D., CSO of Masterpiece Solutions, LLC, has been selected as one of the top ten finalists for the 2007 Business Achievement Pinnacle Award. The Pinnacle Award spotlights and honors African American businesses who have achieved success by combining vision, determination, commitment, perseverance and dedication to building strong communities. Dr. Laureen Wishom and Masterpiece Solutions, LLC truly exemplify the characteristics of a Pinnacle Award finalist.
Dr. Laureen left corporate America nine years ago and started her own company, Masterpiece Solutions, LLC. She has been successful in taking companies who are performing well to stellar performance and companies who are ordinary to extraordinary status. Additionally, over the past nine years, she has raised over ten million dollars for her non-profit clients.
On September 25, 2007, Dr Laureen, Editor-in-Chief, unveiled The Greater Houston Resource Guide© at Houston’s City Hall Rotunda with Whitney Casey of Great Day Houston as the emcee. Dr. Laureen created the resource guide to be an information bank, how to, reference manual, and business directory all in one cross-cultural publication. The resource guide’s purpose is to connect people, resources and services across cultures.
She is also the publisher of a series of “how to” books on writing grant proposals, a business plan, starting a first time business, networking effectively, and obtaining government contracts. She has appeared DayStar, Channel 20 (KLTJ) addressing issues relating to anger management and has been featured on the 90.9 (KTSU) Business Segment and Dialogue Houston, Channel 19 (HCCTV).
Dr. Laureen was recently appointed as an Advisory Board Member to Houston’s Small Business Administration. She is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership, Houston Rotary Club, Museum of Fine Arts, Women Professionals in Government, The Professional Group, the Association of Professional Researchers Advanced, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a supporter of the Ensemble Theater.
Currently Dr. Laureen mentors two University of Houston students. She is a commissioned lay Chaplain, a certified Hospice Volunteer, and a Grief and Loss Specialist. She is passionate about programs that support youth, education, and health awareness.
She believes that her purpose is to help women-owned and minority entrepreneurs, intra-preneurs, solo-preneurs, small business owners and non-profits change their economic landscape. To accomplish this purpose, Dr. Laureen is committed to coaching, mentoring, providing information, and developing viable business solutions that will change these entities’ foot print in the marketplace.
