The event has raised over one quarter of a million dollars for sickle cell research in the past several years, and has over twenty sickle cell disease research projects which have been funded fully or in part by proceeds from “Men of Style”. Proceeds from this year’s Gala will benefit Texas Children’s Hospital Sickle Cell Center under the direction by Dr. Brigetta U. Mueller and Sickle Cell Patients.
Regarding the selection of recipients for this year, Chairperson Constance Charles says, “It was difficult because there are so many men in Houston who have contributed to the betterment of this community and it was extremely hard to narrow it down to a select few.”
