Deborah Duncan and Friends Lend Vocal Talents for a Worthy Cause
HOUSTON –– It’s not uncommon to find Great Day Houston’s Deborah Duncan working off camera to help local non-profit organizations. This holiday season Deborah is taking her commitment to giving to a new level and realizing one of her own dreams at the same time.
“It was ten years ago when I first talked about creating a CD that would support a charitable organization,” said Duncan. “The mission of Houston’s Star of Hope stood out as the perfect fit for such a project, and today it has finally come to fruition.”
The Star of Hope is a Christ centered community dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless men, women and their children. The CD, “Star of Hope for the Holidays,” is a collection of eight Christmas classics, plus an original song. All costs of the project have been underwritten by a Star of Hope donor so that every purchase benefits the organization.
The title song of the CD, “Star of Hope,” is an original piece written by Duncan and Caroline Shumate, a junior at The Woodlands High School. Duncan lends her vocals, accompanied by Shumate on guitar and other local musicians. It is a song that rings of hope and a true testament to the organization that provides shelter and other services to about 1,000 people each day.
The CD also features Christmas favorites from Grammy winning artists Mary Griffin, Marcos Witt and Wayne Watson, Dove Award winner Cindy Ratcliff, Houston’s own Champion Sisters and chart topping song writers Mark Lowry, Chris Walker and Nash 3.
“The spirit of giving among the artists and musicians was boundless and their generosity made this project possible,” said Duncan.
“Star of Hope for the Holidays” was produced by Walker Entertainment, Ernest Walker Executive Producer. The CD can be purchased for $13.99, which includes shipping and handling, by visiting www.khou.com. All proceeds benefit the Star of Hope.
